April 2 is Worldwide Autism Awareness Day, and the start of Autism Awareness Month! Many in the autism community look forward to this month as a time to create greater awareness and acceptance. I love the fact that it provides many opportunities to speak about autism, and the challenges those affected by autism—along with their families and caregivers—often face. As a grandmother to a youngster on the autism spectrum, and as an autism resource specialist, I love to take advantage of these opportunities to present and talk about possible solutions to some of these challenges. I hope my posts this month will be helpful and encouraging, and above all bring greater understanding of those on the autism spectrum.
